University of Wisconsin-River Falls Description:

Founded in 1874 as a normal school for training teachers, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is now a a comprehensive university offering a wide range of bachelor's and master's degree programs. Education, business, and animal sciences are some of the most popular areas of study today, and academics are supported by a 20 to 1 student / faculty ratio.

The town of River Falls gets its name from the falls in the scenic Kinnickinnic River, and the area around the university is home to numerous parks, creeks, ponds, and ski areas. For students who are drawn to urban attractions, the St. Paul/Minneapolis metropolitan area is just 30 miles away. Student life is active with over 170 student clubs and organizations. In athletics, the UW-River Falls Falcons compete in the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) for most sports. The university fields six men's and ten women's varsity sports.
