University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Description:

Established as a school for teachers in 1894, the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point today is a master's-level comprehensive university that offers undergraduates over 120 academic programs. Business, education, and communications are all popular, as are many fields related to natural resources and the biological sciences. Academic programs are supported by a 22 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 28. The university's 400-acre campus is located midway between Milwaukee and Minneapolis along the Wisconsin River. The surrounding area has numerous options for outdoor recreation, and the university also owns a 275-acre nature reserve. On campus, students can choose from over 180 clubs and organizations including more than 20 music ensembles. Students interested in sports can compete in one of the universities eight men's and ten women's intercollegiate athletic teams. Most sports compete in the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
