Discussion of Ursinus College's Admissions Standards:

Ursinus College is a private liberal arts college in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Admissions are selective, and some well qualified applicants will not get in. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of admitted students had high school averages of "B+" or better, combined SAT scores of 1050 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 21 or better. Realize, however, that Ursinus has test-optional admissions, so your grades are going to be much more important than your test scores (home-schooled applicants do need to submit test scores).

Throughout much of the graph, you'll notice some yellow dots (waitlisted students) and red dots (rejected students) mixed in with the green and blue. Some students with grades and test scores that were on target for Ursinus did not get in. On the flip side, note that some students were accepted with standardized test scores and grades that were a bit below the norm. This is because Ursinus has holistic admissions and considers much more than numerical data. The admissions folks will be looking at the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grades. Ursinus uses the Common Application and will want to see interesting extracurricular activities, an engaging application essay, and glowing letters of recommendation. You can further strengthen your application to Ursinus with the supplement to the Common Application. Ursinus asks you to send a graded high school paper, or to write an essay about the reasons you are interested in Ursinus.
