Salt Lake City is less than an hour away to the north, and skiing, hiking, and boating are all nearby. Utah Valley University has a 23 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and students can choose from roughly 60 bachelor degree programs. Psychology, business, and education are all popular, and the university also has an excellent flight school. High achieving students should look into the UVU Honors Program for perks such as smaller courses, research opportunities, and access to special social and cultural events. Outside of the classroom, students can join a number of clubs and organizations, ranging from academic honor societies, to recreational sports, to performing arts ensembles, to religious clubs. In athletics, the Utah Valley Wolverines compete in the NCAA Division I Western Athletic Conference. Popular sports include basketball, track and field, soccer, softball, and golf.
