That said, applicants who prefer the SAT over the ACT are welcome to use SAT scores during the application process.

ACT Scores and Requirements

ACT scores are optional at Utah Valley University, so low scores will not affect your application. That said, 83% of applicants did submit their ACT scores during the 2019-20 admissions cycle.

This admissions data tells us that of those who submitted scores during the 2019-20 admissions cycle, most of UVU's admitted students fall within the top 65% nationally on the ACT. The middle 50% of students admitted to American University received a composite ACT score between 18 and 25, while 25% scored a 25 or higher, and another 25% scored below 17 or lower.

Requirements

With it's open admission and test-optional policies, UVU does not require ACT scores. The majority of students, however, do submit scores because they are used for advising purposes, and they may be a requirement of NCAA athletics eligibility. Scholarships may also require ACT scores. While ACT scores are not needed to be admitted to UVU, they can still play an important role at the university.

GPA

According to UVU's 2020-21 common data set, the average GPA for enrolled students was 3.41. 59% of enrolled students ranked in the top half of their high school class, and 38% ranked in the top quarter. 80% of students had a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
