As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good. (ESV)

Today's Inspiring Thought: Do All the Good You Can

John Wesley, the great evangelist and founder of the Methodist faith, understood what it meant not to grow weary in doing good. He is often attributed with writing this as his rule:

"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can."

Some claim that Wesley never said those words, And, in truth, there is no real evidence that he did. However, the sentiment does accurately express the second rule of Wesley's "General Rules of Our United Societies," written in 1743:

"By doing good; by being in every kind merciful after their power; as they have the opportunity, doing good of every possible sort, and, as far as possible, to all men ..."
