Discussion of Western Washington's Admissions Standards

About four out of every five applicants to Western Washington University will get in, but you're still going to need solid grades and test scores to be admitted. In the graph above, the green and blue dots represent accepted students. As you can see, the majority of students who got in to WWU had a GPA of 3.0 or higher, an SAT score (RW+M) above 1000, and an ACT composite score of 20 or higher. A significant number of admitted students had grades up in the "A" range.

In the middle of the graph you'll notice some overlap between the accepted, rejected, and waitlisted students. Some students with grades and test scores that were on target for WWU did not get in. At the same time, you'll notice a few students with numbers below the norm who were admitted. This is because Western Washington University has holistic admissions. Your GPA is important, but the university also wants to see that you have taken challenging courses, written a strong essay, and participated in meaningful extracurricular activities. To quote WWU's admissions website, "Your essay and activities list can speak volumes to the admissions committee, so seize the opportunity to tell us your story."
