Discussion of Westmont College's Admissions Standards

You can see that the majority of successful applicants had high school GPAs of 3.5 or better, combined SAT scores of 1050 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 21 or better. Many admitted students had grades up in the "A" range. You'll notice that there are a few red dots (rejected students) and yellow dots (waitlisted students) mixed in with the green and blue in the middle section of the graph. You'll also notice that some students got in with grades and test scores below the norm. This is because Westmont's admissions process relies on qualitative information as well as numerical data. The college uses The Common Application and has holistic admissions. The admissions folks take into consideration the rigor of your high school courses, your application essay, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation. The college also has a supplement to the Common Application that asks you why you want to study at a Christian college, and it has an optional pastoral and/or character reference.
