Transiting Venus in Libra

When Venus is in Libra, it's a time for light social one-on-ones and romance. That makes it quite unlike its dirt-earthy Taurus parallel (the other Venus sign).

When Venus is in Libra, love is an elevated ideal, and high-flown, above the more primal, creaturely expressions of desire.  It's the first Venus that meets the Other, above the horizon of the Zodiac wheel, and into full engagement.

Libra is the concept stage, and the cardinal expression is backed up in the idea of conceiving, initiating.

In Libra, Venus makes an organic transition from the virgin (Virgo) finding power in self-sustained wholeness, to the soulful merging of Scorpio.

Libra is the love ambassador, a kind of overpass from a hermit-like Virgo to the potent soul diving of Scorpio.  In this love mood, there's a sociable urge to invite the muse, to dream up scenes of refinement and elegance.  To imagine the ideal, and really "live there" in the mind, and entertain ways to make it real.

Famous for its driving instinct to relate, Libra knows itself and even experiences life with and through others.  In this Venus atmosphere, we dance intensely with mirrors, seeing ourselves in the eyes of others.

Jamie Walters writes of Virgo and a Season of Focused Visioning, as Venus moves across the astrological signs to Capricorn.  On Venus in Libra, her notes are:  "Incubating and expressing the vision-seeds in thought and word, and ensuring you’ve got your believing mirrors in place."

Libra is an air sign, so the charge is with thought-currents.

It's a stellar time to witness our own inner and outer beauty.  And to telepath that you see that in another, as that has a big impact under this transit.  What's seen can be physical beauty, but also noble traits of fairness, integrity and clear-reasoning.

Or there could be reveling in the ability to make or appreciate works of great beauty.

Inner and Outer Beauty

I once heard a lovely woman in town, a striking beauty say "Don't compare your inside to someone else's outside."  That stuck with me, as I had looked at her from afar and thought she was perfectly happy full time.  And the more I got to know her -- the vulnerabilities and anguish --  the more I realized how wise that statement is, and important to remember.

We all have moments of comparing to others, and falling into judging how we stack up.  When Venus is in Libra, we are more attuned to others in this way.

A love that's sparked now could begin as a crush on the brilliance of the other.  And it could be how the beloved makes you feel -- about yourself.

Venus Libra Speaks

Vivien Leigh, Sun Scorpio with Venus Libra:

I loved fencing and dancing and elocution.

Viggo Mortensen, Venus in Libra sextile to Saturn Sagittarius in the 9th House (see chart).  Here we see wanderlust (Sagittarius, 9th House) as an organizing principle of his life with keen sense of mortality(Saturn), with a primary goal to experience beauty (Libra).

I'm not afraid of death, but I resent it. I think it's unfair and irritating. Every time I see something beautiful, I not only want to return to it, but it makes me want to see other beautiful things. I know I'm not going to get to all the places I want to go.
