Wilberforce University Description:

Wilberforce University, located in Wilberforce, Ohio, was founded in 1856. The University is a historically Black university, and was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church and the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Wilberforce is a small town (with about 1,500 residents) and is located about 20 miles east of Dayton. Students can enjoy both the quietness of a rural setting, with the culture and activity of a nearby city as well. Academically, the school focuses on career-orientated majors and degrees--popular choices include business, health care, and administration fields. Outside of the classroom, students can take part in a number of extracurricular activities. Wilberforce offers academic and career-based clubs, an active Greek life, and religious services and organizations. On the athletic front, the Wilberforce Bulldogs compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as an independent. Popular sports include basketball, volleyball, softball, and tennis.
