Seth Rollins is the face of the new generation of WWE Superstars.  In 2015, he became the first wrestler in the history of the company to hold both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship simultaneously.

The Beginning

Colby Lopez was born on May 28, 1986 in Buffalo, Iowa.  His surname comes from his Mexican-American stepfather but he is of Armenia, German and Irish descent.

He made his professional wrestling debut in 2003 and came to national attention in 2007 when he joined Ring of Honor.

Tyler Black - The Age of the Fall

Wrestling under the name of Tyler Black, he made his Ring of Honor debut as a member of The Age of the Fall, a stable led by Jimmy Jacobs.  The two won the company's tag team championship on two different occasions.  After Jimmy Jacobs turned on him at Final Battle 2008, the feud between the two partners ended with Tyler Black winning a Steel Cage Match.  After that, Tyler Black set his sights on the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship.

Tyler Black - Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion

Tyler Black became the number one contender for the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship by winning the 2009 Survival of the Fittest tournament.  At Final Battle 2009, Tyler Black fought World Champion Austin Aries to a time-limit draw.  In the rematch that took place at the company's Eighth Anniversary event, Tyler Black beat Austin Aries to win the title.

He turned heel a few months later once news surfaced that he signed a contract with WWE.  In his final appearance for the company, he lost the title to Roderick Strong in a No Disqualification Match.

Seth Rollins in WWE Developmental

Seth Rollins was the ring name given to him upon entering WWE's Florida Championship Wrestling developmental territory in 2010.

That company was later rebranded as NXT.  During his time there, he held the championship of both the FCW and NXT brands on one occasion for each company.

Seth Rollins - The Shield

Seth Rollins made his WWE debut at Survivor Series 2012 alongside Dean Amrose and Roman Reigns.  Known as The Shield, these "Hounds of Justice" became a dominant force in the company for the next year-and-a-half.  Always using the numbers to their advantage, the teamwork between the three was so good that they always seemed to have that advantage even when they were battling the top stars in the company in six-man tag team matches.  During his time with the group, he won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Roman Reigns on one occasion.  Originally cast as villains, the three gained the support of the fans during their feud with The Authority.  After beating the group on several occasions, their leader, Triple H, came up with an ingenious way to destroy them.

Seth Rollins - The Face of WWE

When a spot opened up in The Authority, Seth betrayed his teammates to join them.  That move paid dividends almost immediately as they helped him win the Money in the Bank contract in 2014.  While Randy Orton was originally the in-ring leader of the group, Seth didn't like playing second fiddle and eventually ensured Randy's departure from the group.

At WrestleMania 31, Seth cashed in his Money in the Bank contract during the main event of the show and walked out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.  He would go onto defeat John Cena at SummerSlam to win the United States Championship, a title he wound up losing a month later.  Unfortunately, things only got worse for Seth Rollins as he was forced to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on November 5, 2015.  The night before, he tore his ACL during a match at a house show against Kane.
