Amping up the standard movie soundtrack release, "Music From and Inspired By xXx," which debuted on August 6, 2002 in conjunction with the blockbuster summer action thriller starring Vin Diesel, is a two-CD set is comprised of one rock and one hip hop CD, both with 10 tracks. Over a decade after the release of the original film, "Music From and Inspired By xXx" remains one of the most popular soundtrack from its era.

The first rock single off "Music From and Inspired By xXx" is Hatebreed's track "I Will Be Heard." The song is featured during the climatic scene of the movie, and Rammstein appears in the movie as themselves performing "Feuer Frei" in the opening scene. "Adrenaline" was written for the movie by Glen Ballard and performed by Bush's Gavin Rossdale. It was Rossdale’s first-ever solo track. It later hit #24 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock charts.

“Are We Cuttin” was the first hip hop single released off the album. The song by southern rap street minister Pastor Troy featured newcomer Ms. Jade and was produced by hip-hop auteur Timbaland. It peaked at #96 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Other hip-hop heavyweights included, Nelly, The Cash Money Millionaire's clique Lil'Wayne and the Big Tymers, Mr. Cheeks and R&B soul diva Joi.

Interestingly, "Connected for Life" featured Ice Cube. Cube would later star in the sequel to xXx, xXx: State of the Union, and his music was also featured on that soundtrack.

The double album peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200, #16 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and nabbed the #1 spot on the Top Soundtracks spot.
